黄教授透过黄教授调查了高层管理人员与家人和浪漫伴侣的亲密关系如何影响他们的领导行为和公司绩效。透过透过三个研究课题展开陈述，探讨了高层管理人员与家人和伴侣的亲密关系如何影响他们的领导行为和公司绩效。
在第一部分“王子的阴影：亲子对抗”中，他聚焦于家族企业的继承人。他分析了父母和作为潜在继承人的子女的冲突与对抗，深入分析了“授权和支配的悖论”。
在第二部分，黄教授分析了来自中国台湾164个家族企业的数据，研究了“政治联姻”对公司绩效的影响。他发现，政治婚姻的持续时间长且已婚夫妇的爱情浪漫程度低时，政治婚姻对家族企业的好处最大他发现，当婚姻时间较长、且夫妇之间爱情降温时，政治婚姻对家族企业的益处最大。
