DAcc Business and Career Talk | HKICPA QP Empowers BNBU Students on the Path to Becoming Accounting Elites

On the evening of April 16, 2026, the "HKICPA QP Talk," organized by the Department of Accounting (DAcc) under the Faculty of Business Management (FBM), was successfully held in classroom T2-102. The event featured Ms. Lilian Li, Associate Manager of Mainland China Affairs at the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), who delivered an insightful presentation on professional qualification development pathways for BNBU students.

During the lecture, Ms. Li systematically introduced the roles and positioning of HKICPA, its qualification system, and career development pathways. She provided a detailed explanation of the structure of the QP program, its examination arrangements, course exemption policies, and international recognition mechanisms. Ms. Li emphasized that Hong Kong, as a vital bridge connecting Mainland China and the international community, offers extensive opportunities for accounting professionals and serves as an important gateway to the global professional stage.

In addition, Ms. Li elaborated on the mutual recognition pathways between HKICPA and other professional qualifications, such as the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) and CPA Australia. She encouraged students to plan their studies and exam schedules wisely to efficiently obtain professional qualifications and enhance their professional capabilities.

Focusing on the specific circumstances of BNBU students, Ms. Li highlighted exemption policy and the Certificate in Accounting and Business (CAB). Eligible students may apply for exemptions for up to ten QP courses, significantly reducing the time required to complete the program. She explained that students who complete eight foundation courses and two professional courses can obtain the CAB certificate, which lays a solid foundation for further QP studies and enhances their professional competitiveness. Additionally, Ms. Li pointed out that HKICPA provides comprehensive learning support for candidates, helping students prepare effectively.

During the Q&A session, students actively raised questions about exam exemptions, and qualification recognition. Ms. Li patiently and thoroughly addressed each question and provided practical advice based on her experience. Even after the lecture concluded, many students continued to engage with Ms. Li, seeking further guidance, which created a lively and interactive atmosphere.

This lecture not only provided BNBU students with authoritative and practical professional information but also deepened their understanding of and planning for future career development. Looking ahead, the faculty will continue to strengthen its collaboration with professional organizations, building broader platforms for students and helping them enhance their global competitiveness.
