Panel Description:
The rapid development of AI has been hailed by some as the greatest thing that has happened to humanity. Some expect AI to reach and soar past human intelligence within a decade. Elon Musk says we will be entering an age of abundance. Some predict that AI will make food healthier, cheaper, and plentiful. Applying AI to medicine will cure many diseases and illnesses and mitigate aging issues. AI will transform the way we work, the way we learn, the way we interact, and the way we socialize. On the other hand, some have cautioned about job displacement and replacement, and the loss of income to many. Universal Basic Income may be necessary in the future. The rise of AI may also pose an existential threat to humanity. Geoffrey Hinton emphasizes the importance of understanding potential risks associated with AI development. This panel will discuss the topic of “Is AI a Blessing or a Curse?” and will interact with the participants on the topic during the panel discussion.
